Thursday, October 26 - Sandestin, Florida

Took our time leaving this morning, as we only have eight miles to go!!!  Enjoyed leisurely making an omelet breakfast, boiling up the fresh shrimp from Joe Patti's to enjoy as a snack later in the day today, and working on the blog.  It's a beautiful, calm day on the water!

As we leave Destin Harbor, you can truly see how skinny the channel is; we need to go between the green and red buoys.
Since we were so focused on staying in the narrow passageway coming into Marley Marina yesterday, we missed some of this:  beautiful homes,
boats anchored right in the middle of Destin Harbor😲,
as well as AJ's (where we listened to live music yesterday).

This is a photo right in front of AJ's; it was VERY crowded yesterday afternoon when we were there, as Destin sponsors a Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo (and have for more than 50 years!).  Big game fish that ply the Loop Current which circulates clockwise in the Gulf of Mexico are the reason, and the current comes relatively close to shore near Destin.  Turns out the rodeo draws thousands of expectant anglers who search the offshore waters, inshore bays, and bayous for prize-winning fish, worth thousands of dollars!!!

Once last look behind us at skinny Destin Harbor!πŸ’—

As we get ready to go back into the Choctawhatchee Bay by crossing under the bridge, we see a pirate ship coming under it; arrgh, matey!!!

Again, we were so busy focusing on entering Destin Harbor yesterday, that we missed this; "Waterworld"!  In talking with locals later in the day today, we found out that this is a Mexican Restaurant with a water playland on the backside for kids!  The person we chatted with said that in the summer you can't get your boat near this place because it is so very crowded!  I guess there are two other places like this that join Waterworld, but only in the summertime (one is a guy on a barge with a grill!).

Once again, we see the Sea Nettles!

It is soooo calm out on this BIG bay today!
Well, that is until this 56 footer showed up on plane!
(At least he was courteous and slowed down for us).

And, here we are!!!  A VERY long day at sea today!πŸ˜‚

We are staying at Baytowne Marina, which is part of the Sandestin Resort; VERY NICE!
This is the wharf that has many cute shops and restaurants.
 Which we enjoyed . . .
well, maybe not the shops, but the ice cream for sure!!!πŸ’—πŸ¨

The marina's pet, MaryAnn, welcomed Dave and me back to the marina after our walk.

Enjoyed a beautiful sunset from our boat!

And then dinner and some great entertainment at the local piano bar!πŸ’—πŸŽΆ
