Sunday, September 3 - Winona, Minnesota

After breakfast with neighbors, Steve and Kathy Schlafge (thanks for making the trip to Lake City in the morning!), we toasted one last time to good friends!

       SOUTHBOUND!!!🌞

Many people enjoying the beautiful sand bluffs of Wabasha!

Our turn to be creative on the lock wall!

After Lock 4, we find the Mississippi River to be VERY busy with many towboats!

As well as excursion boats!

The first one, American Duchess (which was just christened on August 14 in New Orleans), we saw on Lake Pepin, while the second one, Queen of the Mississippi, we waited for before going through Lock 5.

Because of the busy river, which had us waiting at locks, we didn't make our original destination of Trempeleau.  Instead, we got to visit our old friend, Mosquito Island (which is getting a face lift), south of Winona.

Beautiful sunset as we leave Lock 5A

The moon guides us to Mosquito Island.

Almost didn't recognize Mosquito Island, as there is a lot of equipment around it!  Still, a GREAT anchorage!
